The first thing I noticed with these lipsticks is that whilst they are in a traditional black MAC bullet packaging they have a rubbery-matte feel to them which is unique to this formula. Toki 1 1 0.

The next thing I noticed is the texture of the lipstick – it looks like powder formed solidly into the bullet. It looks almost as if it is somehow dusted with powder – but that is the texture throughout the lipstick.
When you apply it to the lips it truly feels like you're applying lipbalm – the first time I used these lipsticks I thought I'd accidentally picked up the wrong product. The bullet and the product look matte but apply with the smoothest wash of moisture I've experienced from a lipstick.
The lipsticks are definitely matte on the lips – if you have any fine lines these will definitely be made obvious by the formula. The formula is completely non-drying and so very simple to apply and touch-up throughout the day.
Mac Powerhouse Matte Lipstick Palette
I have been trialling two shades, 302 Sweet, No Sugar* (top, pink shade) and 304 Sultriness* (bottom, orange/peach shade) and have found the formula consistent throughout both shades.
This is by far the strangest and most unique formula of lipstick I've ever tried – in case you can't tell from my review I'm still honestly mind-boggled about how it all works. I think this is a beautiful formula and a really wearable way for those with drier lips to rock a matte lip – these are slightly sheer so if you're wanting a bolder look pair it with a lipliner and you're good to go!
